Simone Faggioli won the Trofeo Lodovico Scarfiotti, also known as the Cronoscalata Sarnano – Sassotetto this weekend. It rained on Saturday during the tests and continued until Sunday morning. But by the time the final drivers started their one and only race run, the sun had come out and the track was dry. This allowed Faggioli to win the event with a new trackrecord. His rival Christian Merli secured second place although he was 6,5 seconds slower on the 8877 metres. Domenico Scola had fuel flow issues which prevented him from completing a run in practise. The car was running perfectly in the race and Scola finished third overall.
Luca Ligato won the CN group after a close duel with Achille Lombardi. The two also finished sixth and seventh overall behind Omar Magliona and Domenico Cubeda. A great drive from Ivan Pezzolla saw him place the 1-litre Osella PA21/JRB ninth overall. Manuel Dondi was best touringcar driver in 12th overall. With his famous Fiat X1/9 he was once again better than the more powerful powerful GT’s and Silhouettes. Marco Iacoangeli was second, Carmine Tancredi third and GT winner Lucio Peruggini was fourth best touringcar driver.
The Historics also had a points paying race this weekend. As they started before the modern racers, they faced a track that was still wet in many places. Antonio Angiolani was the fastest driver. The March 783 Formula 3 pilot was only .18 seconds quicker tha Piero Lottini. Stefano Peroni could not challenge the two leaders this time. Still the Osella Pa8 pilot won Group 3 and finished third overall. Ildebrando Motti was the fastest touringcar driver and also the winner of Group 2. He finished fourth overall. Tiberio Nocentini usually dominated the proceedings and Group 1. However Nocentini had to retire this time which meant that Antonio Di Fazio takes group 1 victory.
