Results Kastania Hillclimb 2017

The Kastania Hillclimb was the final round of the Greek Hillclimb Championship. The race also counted towards the Greek Hillclimb Cup North. Marios Iliopoulos was already certain of the Group FS title and did not compete in Kastania. The new Group E champion Georgios Kechagias had the same idea and was also not present. There was a small scare on Sunday when Spyros Mavraidakos went over the edge but his Renault Clio was caught in the bushes some 10 metres below. After a checkup it was clear that he had no injuries and the race continued.

By far the fastest driver in Kastania was Konstantinos Lazaridis. Over two runs he was more than 13 seconds quicker than the next fastest driver. Panagiotis Kyrkos could not challenge the leader but he did win Group A. The Mitsubishi Lancer pilot had of course a power advantage over his closest rivals Alexandros Tsionkas and Christos Lappas who both competed in Peugeot 106 Maxis. Konstantinos Kakos had no real rivals in Group N. He won the group and the championship. Ioannis Konstantinidis extended his points lead in the Cup, although he was beaten by Lappas for victory.
