The Bergrallye Sankt Andrä / Kitzeck was the second round of the Bergrallye-Cup. As organiser Rupert Schwaiger knows every centimetre of this track. Needless to say the Porsche 911 Bi-Turbo pilot was the quickest driver today. Schwaiger was 1,5 seconds per race quicker than everybody else. Of course he was also the well-deserving winner.
The 4-wheel-drive class saw the most intense battle for victory. The three leaders finished within a second of eachother. Victory was somewhat surprisingly for Werner Hofer. The Ford Escort pilot did not compete at Lödersdorf last week. Still he was immediately on the pace and secured victory thanks to a brilliant second race. It was his first ever class victory in the 4WD-class. Felix Pailer was faster than Hofer in the first and third races but had no answer to Hofers time in the second race. That Pailer finished second in class also had something to do with the misfortune of Werner Karl. Karl was second after two races but transmission problems grounded his Audi S2R in the third race. Last weeks winner Stefan Wiedenhofer had all sorts of small problems and finished just fourth in class. In the overall classifications Wiedenhofer was even behind Diethard Sternhad, the E1 2000 class winner.
