The Madeira Hillclimb Championship begins this Saturday with the Rampa da Ponta do Sol. Dinarte Nobrega is going to defend his title in 2018. At Ponta do Sol he will face opposition from 5 other Kart-Cross drivers. Antonio Giestas will drive the only real sportscar of the event, a BRC CM02.
Favourites for the touringcar victory are Rui Costa and Duarte Lagos. They will bring their Ford Focus WRC to Ponta do Sol. There will be three other 4-wheel-drive rallycars in Ponta do Sol. Pires and Mendonça drive the more modern Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X. Ferreira / Freitas and Abel / Neves are bringing their older Group A cars around.
