The Prescott Hillclimb is a purpose build racetrack. The lands were bought in 1937 by the Bugatti Owners Club to get a permanent home for their motorsport activities. To this day the Bugatti Owners Club owns and exploits the place. At every Hillclimb event there are special classes for Bugatti drivers. There is also a small museum dedicated to the French car brand on the grounds.
The Prescott Hillclimb is situated in Gloucestershire county in the east of England, not that far from Wales. The Hillclimb is within 25 kilometres of the major towns of the county, Gloucester and Cheltenham. The Roman founded city of Gloucester is the capital of the county. It is most famous for the massive Gothic Cathedral that was also used in the Harry Potter movies. Cheltenham is a Spa town that first boomed during the regency. It has therefore many great examples of architecture of the time. Cheltenham is also a famous horseracing town and host of the Gold Cup.
Prescott is close to the Cotwolds. The name Cotswolds originally signifies the hilly landscape that lies roughly between Gloucester and Oxford. The rolling hills that reach a maximum of 330 metres have a limestone surface. This has created a special grassland habitat that is unique in England and perhaps Europe. That is why the area is classified as an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is a very apt description of the area, but at the same time it is also a bureaucratic title that gives it the same status as a protected natural park. The outstanding beauty is not only found in the nature but also in the old towns. Many of these markettowns are build with the limestone rocks of the region, producing a particular charm that is famous in England and beyond.
