Results Bergrallye Gasen-Strassegg 2018

The Bergrallye Cup reached its halfway point at the Bergrallye Gasen-Strassegg. With 2,5 kilometres it is the longest course of the season. Rupert Schwaiger dominated the event with his mighty Porsche 911 Bi-Turbo. With three fastest times he was the well-deserved winner. Felix Pailer had a big moment in the second race. But even with a perfect run he would probably not have beaten Werner Karl this time. For Karl it was his first class victory of the season. The two drivers also finished second and third overall. They were the only 4-wheel-drive pilots at the finish. Stefan Wiedenhofer suffered clutch problems and retired in practise, Julian Theuretzbacher also did not make it to the end. Their misfortune allowed Manuel Seidl to finish fourth overall. The Porsche pilot narrowly beat Thomas Weberhofer. For Weberhofer it was his best event yet in the Opel Omega.

The E1 -2000 class was the most competitive in Gasen-Strassegg. Diethard Sternad won the class with a lead of just .238 seconds. Although it has to be said Sternad was actually fastest in all three races. Jürgen Halbartschlager was the unlucky second, but still not as unlucky as Heiko Fiausch. That is because Fiausch lost third place by just 0.006 seconds to Michael Wels!
