The Romanian Hillclimb Championship visited the Trofeul Teliu this weekend. This raceweekend was highly anticipated as the Italian Radical Team brought two cars to Teliu. For their drivers they chose Horatiu Ionescu Cristea and Simone Tempestini. Double rally champion Tempestini immediately showed off his talent as he broke the track record already in practise. He continued his stellar performance in every session and eventually won the event.
Behind the winner the battle for second place was very intense. Andrei Dumitrescu in the Tatuus singleseater was a close match for Cristea in the Radical. They looked set to take the remaining podium spots but a sudden rainshower in second race changed everything. Lyuben Kamenov set second fastest time behind Tempestini in that second run. With that time the Bulgarian moved from fifth to second overall. Paul Andronic also jumped past the two sportscars and finished third overall. Lucian Radut was second in the championship until this race but he lost valuable points in Teliu with his sixth position overall. Seventh on his first foreign event was Hristo Manolov, the 2017 Bulgarian Vice-Champion.
