In the 1920’s a hillclimb called the Salzbergrennen was organised on this location. The current road was however not yet constructed. Between 1958 and 1973 the Int. Alpen Bergpreis Rossfeld was competed over the same roads as today. From 1961 until the end the race also counted for the European Hillclimb Championship. A historic revival meeting takes place every year at the end of september.
